Court hearing for senior officials of deposed Libyan dictator resumes, but son does not appear

TRIPOLI, Libya –  A court hearing for officials of deposed Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi has resumed in Tripoli, but without the former regime's most prominent figure — Gadhafi's son, who is being held by a powerful militia group.

Seif al-Islam Gadhafi was not among the 30 detained men held in a cage called the "indictment chamber" as prosecutors read out charges against them. The men stand accused of committing crimes during Libya's eight-month civil war that ended Gadhafi's 42-year-rule.

Defense Lawyer Ibrahim Salem told reporters the case has been adjourned until Oct. 24.

Prison motorcades ferrying the defendants, including ex-spy chief Abdullah al-Senoussi, were seen at the courtroom. Several journalists were barred from attending.
