NAIROBI, Kenya – Kenya's counterterrorism police unit has released closed circuit television footage showing two men entering a local bank to pay for a car that they say was used to bring the terrorists to Westgate Mall.
The two men — one believed to be Kenyan of Somali descent and the other believed to be Somali — were filmed Sept. 6, weeks before the Sept. 21 attack which killed more than 60 people.
Boniface Mwaniki, the head of Kenya's Anti-Terrorism Police Unit, said Sunday the men had gone to Barclays Bank to retrieve the money to pay for the 340,000 shilling car (around $4,000).
Mwaniki said the Mitsubishi Lancer was found blocking the mall's main entrance, with two grenade pins inside, indicating the grenades had been launched from inside the vehicle.
